Glass Skin Consultation

A personalised skin-quality consultation for people looking to improve pores, texture, hydration, oiliness and overall radiance. We assess what is contributing to your skin concerns and build an individual treatment approach, which may include NCTF 135 HA and other skin-quality treatments. Where a prescription-only medicine may be clinically appropriate, this is considered only following individual assessment and prescription.

What it is and how it works

“Glass skin” is a popular description for skin that looks smooth, refined, hydrated and luminous. It is not one single medical treatment and there is no universal glass-skin protocol. At Palmeira Clinic, we use the consultation to identify what is preventing your skin from looking its best. We assess hydration, pore visibility, texture, oiliness, pigmentation, redness, fine lines and overall skin quality. Your plan can then be tailored to those findings. One option we may discuss is NCTF 135 HA, an injectable skin-quality product based on non-cross-linked hyaluronic acid with a multi-ingredient formulation. You may encounter terms such as “microbotox” or “microtox” in articles about glass skin. These terms are commonly used to describe superficial or intradermal techniques using small quantities of botulinum toxin, rather than conventional deeper intramuscular placement.

What it may help with

• Detailed assessment of overall skin quality
• Considers hydration, pores, texture, oiliness, pigmentation and redness
• Allows NCTF 135 HA to be considered where appropriate
• Compares injectable, regenerative, light and laser options rather than using one protocol for everyone
• Can build a staged skin-quality programme
• Focuses on natural-looking skin quality rather than changing facial shape
• Provides an appropriate clinical pathway if a prescription-only option might be considered

Suitable for

A Glass Skin Consultation may be useful if your main goal is improving overall skin quality rather than adding facial volume. Common concerns include dullness, visible pores, uneven texture, dehydration, excess oiliness, early fine lines and skin that no longer looks as fresh or luminous as you would like. The most appropriate approach depends on the underlying cause, skin type, medical history, previous treatments and the amount of downtime you are comfortable with.

Areas treated

• Face
• Cheeks
• Forehead
• Nose and central face
• Chin
• Neck and décolletage where appropriate

What happens on the day

We discuss what you have noticed about your skin, what you would like to improve and your previous treatments and skincare. Your skin is assessed for hydration, texture, pores, oiliness, pigmentation, redness, fine lines and other features affecting skin quality. We then discuss appropriate options. This might include NCTF 135 HA, microneedling, medical skincare, IPL, UltraClear or a combination over time. If a prescription-only medicine is considered, it requires an individual clinical assessment and prescription.

Downtime and Aftercare

Downtime varies according to the treatment selected. Intradermal injectable treatments can cause temporary redness, small raised areas at injection sites, swelling, tenderness or bruising. Laser and light treatments have their own recovery profiles. Once your plan has been agreed, the expected recovery and aftercare for the specific procedure will be explained before treatment.

Risks and side effects

Risks depend on the treatment selected. Injectable treatments can cause temporary redness, swelling, tenderness and bruising, with other procedure-specific risks discussed before treatment. Light and laser treatments have different potential adverse effects and require individual skin assessment. Where a prescription-only medicine is considered, its contraindications, adverse effects, licensed indications, limitations and alternatives are discussed as part of the prescribing and consent process.

Contraindications

Suitability depends on your medical history, skin and the treatment being considered. Treatment may need to be avoided or postponed in circumstances such as pregnancy or breastfeeding, active infection or inflammation, certain skin conditions, medicines, allergies or previous treatment complications. Additional contraindications apply to individual treatments and prescription medicines and will be assessed separately.
