Profhilo® Face & Neck

Profhilo® is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment designed for tissue remodelling and improvement of skin laxity. It combines high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid using patented NAHYCO® Hybrid Technology and can be used on the face and neck. Rather than being used primarily to create facial volume or contour, Profhilo® is intended to improve qualities such as hydration, firmness, tone and elasticity.

What it is and how it works

Profhilo® is an injectable hyaluronic acid treatment developed specifically for tissue remodelling and skin laxity of the face and neck. It differs from conventional hyaluronic acid dermal fillers. Traditional fillers are often selected to provide targeted volume, projection or structural support. Profhilo® is designed to spread within the tissues and is used primarily as a skin-remodelling treatment rather than to sculpt an individual facial feature. The treatment uses a high concentration of ultrapure hyaluronic acid and combines high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid in stable Hybrid Cooperative Complexes. The overall aim is improvement in skin hydration, firmness, tone and elasticity while preserving the natural shape and proportions of the face.

What it may help with

• Designed specifically for tissue remodelling and skin laxity
• Improves skin hydration
• Can improve the appearance of firmness and elasticity
• Can improve overall skin tone and quality
• Treats the skin without aiming to substantially alter facial shape
• Suitable for both face and neck
• Uses high- and low-molecular-weight hyaluronic acid
• Does not use BDDE chemical cross-linking
• Can form part of a wider skin-quality or facial rejuvenation plan

Suitable for

Profhilo® may be suitable for adults noticing changes in skin hydration, firmness, elasticity or early skin laxity on the face or neck. It may particularly appeal to patients whose priority is improving skin quality rather than changing facial shape or adding targeted volume. Profhilo® is not a substitute for every other aesthetic treatment. More significant volume loss, deeper wrinkles, pigmentation, vascular changes or more advanced skin laxity may require a different treatment or a combination approach. Suitability is assessed individually according to your skin, facial anatomy, medical history and treatment goals.

Areas treated

• Face
• Neck
Face and neck can be considered within the same overall treatment plan. The precise injection points, quantity and treatment protocol are determined according to clinical assessment and the manufacturer’s recommended technique.

What happens on the day

Your consultation begins with an assessment of your skin quality, hydration, elasticity, degree of laxity and the areas you would like to improve. If Profhilo® is appropriate, the skin is cleansed and the product is injected at selected points using the appropriate treatment protocol. Profhilo® uses standardised injection approaches designed to allow distribution of the product within the tissues while limiting the number of injection points.

Downtime and Aftercare

Small raised areas can be visible at the injection points immediately after Profhilo® treatment. These usually settle as the product disperses. Temporary redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising or discomfort can also occur following injection. Most people can return to normal daily activities relatively quickly, although individual recovery varies. You will receive appropriate aftercare advice following treatment.

Risks and side effects

Expected temporary effects can include small raised injection points, redness, swelling, tenderness, bruising and localised discomfort. As with any injectable treatment, other complications are possible, including infection, inflammatory reactions, persistent swelling or an unsatisfactory aesthetic outcome. Rare but potentially serious vascular complications are an important consideration with injectable procedures. Appropriate anatomical knowledge, injection technique, patient selection and complication management are therefore essential. The relevant risks, warning symptoms and aftercare will be discussed before treatment.

Contraindications

Profhilo® may need to be avoided or postponed in certain circumstances, including active infection or inflammation in the treatment area, relevant allergy or hypersensitivity, pregnancy or breastfeeding, and some medical conditions or medicines. Previous injectable treatments, previous complications and any condition that may affect healing should be discussed during consultation. A full medical history and individual suitability assessment will be completed before treatment.

Profhilo® produces a gradual skin-quality effect rather than immediate facial contouring. Changes in hydration and overall skin appearance develop progressively, with further improvement occurring through the initial treatment course. It is therefore more useful to assess the result after completing the initial cycle than immediately after the first treatment.

Profhilo® is not primarily designed as a volumising or contouring dermal filler. Its purpose is tissue remodelling and improvement of skin quality and laxity. There can be temporary local fullness immediately after injection, but the treatment is not intended to create the targeted projection or facial reshaping associated with conventional dermal fillers.
