Concerns
Asymmetry and Imbalance
Uneven lips, a weaker chin or profile, or features that feel out of proportion? Find out how subtle, planned changes can help restore balance.
What you might be noticing
Once side of your lips is fuller or sits higher than the other. Your chin looks small is set back in profile, so the nose or neck seems more prominent.
One cheek or eyebrow sits differently, or your face looks lopsided in phots, especially when you smile.
Why it happens
No face is perfectly symmetrical, and small differences are normal. Some are present from birth through bone structure, teeth and jaw shape. Others develop over time: sleeping on one side, chewing on one side, uneven volume loss with age, or previous treatment that was not balanced.
How we assess it
Every treatment plan at Palmeira Clinic in Brighton and Hove starts with a consultation with our medical team, in three steps:
Your concerns and goals
We listen to what’s bothering you and what you’d like to achieve.
A thorough assessment
We review you medical history and examine your skin and features to understand the cause.
Honest advice
We explain what may help, what won’t, and any risks, so you can decide without pressure.
Treatments we may discuss
Depending on your assessment, your clinician may talk you through one or more of the options below. Not every option suits everyone, and we’ll only recommend treatment where we think it’s appropriate.
What you can do at home
- Look at yourself from several angles and in natural light, not just a phone camera, which distorts features.
- Try sleeping on your back and chewing on both sides.
- Gather photos from a few years ago to show your clinician what has changed.
