Concerns
Tired eyes, thinning lips or crepey neck
Some areas show change before the rest of the face. Learn what is behind this and the treatment options for each concern.
What you might be noticing
Eyes:Â dark hollows under the eyes, crepey skin on the lids, or a tired look concealer cannot fix.
Lips: less fullness, a flatter border, fine lines around the mouth, or lipstick bleeding.
Neck:Â thin, crinkled skin, horizontal bands, or a texture that no longer matches your face.
Why it happens
Skin in these areas is thinner, with fewer oil glands, so it loses collagen and moisture sooner. Under-eye hollows often come from lost volume in the cheek and the bone around the eye.
Lips lose volume and definition with age, and repeated movement such as smoking, vaping and using straws adds lines.
The neck is particularly vulnerable as it is often missed with SPF and skincare, so sun damage builds up.
How we assess it
Every treatment plan at Palmeira Clinic in Brighton and Hove starts with a consultation with our medical team, in three steps:
Your concerns and goals
We listen to what’s bothering you and what you’d like to achieve.
A thorough assessment
We review you medical history and examine your skin and features to understand the cause.
Honest advice
We explain what may help, what won’t, and any risks, so you can decide without pressure.
Treatments we may discuss
Depending on your assessment, your clinician may talk you through one or more of the options below. Not every option suits everyone, and we’ll only recommend treatment where we think it’s appropriate.
What you can do at home
- Take your SPF and skincare down to your neck and chest.
- Use a gentle eye cream and avoid rubbing your eyes.
- Keep lips moisturised and use a lip balm with SPF.
- Prioritise sleep and limit alcohol and salt, which worsen puffiness.
- Raise you screen to eye level to reduce looking down for long periods of time.
